Many music videos, particularly ones that fit into the category of televised bard, have an underlying theme and meaning behind them. From gaining an overall idea of what the lyrics to my song are about as well as studying them in greater depth, I can see that unrequited love is the key. There is a clear narrative that moves through the song especially in the verses and pre-choruses which I will manipulate effectively to meet the conventions of visual matching the lyrics, yet there are other points where it may be more suitable to sum up this theme through the visuals to help define my music video as this particular representative music video.
Hearts are often connoted with love whilst also being instantly recognisable when seen on a screen in something like a music video or depicted on a card for example. For this reason, I feel that a succession of shots with various different hearts seen within them would well amongst the narrative line. As this particular love is unrequited, I will additionally bring in the concept of the heart fading/slipping away to visually represent the abstract idea of love and the situation that the artist is going through.
In the planning stages, I will ensure that I have a wide range of this type of shot included amongst the clear narrative picture in the lyrics that I wish to build upon and emphasise to make my music video shine through in terms of the conventions met as well as its engagement as a televised bard style music video.
